High school principal John Giffin also holds National Board Certification and said, “The National Board process is intensive and allows for individuals to grow in the profession. Any time that our instructors expand their development, it is a win for our entire district.”
According to NBPTS.org, “National Board Certification is the most respected professional certification available in education and provides numerous benefits to teachers, students and schools. It was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide.” Certification is a multi-year process. Only 4% of the teaching population holds this certification, according to NYSUT.org.
