Student Career Services
Career Connected and Life Ready
EVERY student Employed, Enlisted, Enrolled, or an Entrepreneur!
Because high school SHOULD be about more...
At Vienna High School, we believe "high school SHOULD be about more"—which is why we built the Career Connected Life Ready program. This work integrates our Career Framework + Pathways/Launchpads + Early College/Credentials to ensure every student is Career Connected and Life Ready.
We have proven that when students are given access to Career Connected Life Ready opportunities, their "high school experience WAS about more." That success is evidenced by our graduates as they become Employed, Enlisted, Enrolled, or Entrepreneurs after high school graduation.

Career Framework + Pathways/Launchpads + Early College/Credentials = Career Connected Life Ready
The Equation
SHOULD Be About More...
WAS About More...

These Career Pathways/Launchpads offer students authentic, real-life Career EXPLORATION, Career EXPOSURE, and Career EXPERIENCES by placing them under the mentorship of instructors who have been actual practitioners in their respective fields.
Vienna Career Pathways/Launchpads build essential employability skills, technical sector-specific competencies, and professional readiness through rigorous, career-focused instructional sequences. ----------------------------------
Vienna has created a modified master schedule which includes two additional periods on top of the traditional seven period day making for nine period day flexibility. These periods fall before and after what used to be the traditional school day with many student coming early or staying late to get additional courses relevant to their career pathways as they prepare for the future.
----------------------------------
Many of Vienna's Career Pathways/Launchpads have state recognized CCPEs (College and Career Pathway Endorsement) under the Illinois State Board of Education. CCPE's were develop in cooperation with Ed Systems Center at Northern Illinois University as a result of state's Postsecondary & Workforce Readiness Act. CCPE's were developed based on Recommended Technical and Essential Employability Competencies in a report from JFF, Education Systems Center, and JPMorgan Chase.
Career Early College/Credentials
Vienna offers over 200 early college/dual credit credit hours on its high school master schedule that are aligned to meaningful high WAGE, high DEMAND, and high SKILL Career Pathways/Launchpads. Vienna has led intensive work and developed processes to ensure that over 90% of it seniors are college ready each year by implementing the Course Curriculum Alignment Map. This college readiness tool was built in collaboration with Vienna's community college partners; Shawnee, Southeastern, and John A. Logan Colleges.
With over 90% of seniors reaching college readiness benchmarks early college programming such as dual credit, dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, proficiency credit, and escrow credit are an accessible reality for students. Vienna follows an Automatic Accelerated Placement practice, which mean students, if students meet any combination of multiple measure, they do not have to request to be put in early college sections, instead they are automatically enrolled.
Each year not only does a majority of the senior class graduate with semesters of college completed while in high school, but many graduate with associates degrees completed creating an environment in which student know they are college material. This has increased college matriculation post high school, increased degree and certification completion rates, and has decreased the time to career placement.
----------------------------------
Industry credentials are also a result of many Vienna Career Pathways/Launchpads. Student are becoming:
Certificated Remote Pilots in the Aviation/Drone Pathway/Launchpad under the Federal Aviation Administration Small UAS Rule (Part 107).
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) in the Healthcare Occupations Pathway/Launchpad under the Illinois Department of Public Health.
OSHA Certification in the Industrial Arts Pathway/Launchpad under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
