At one time, trains came through this narrow
tunnel. Wooden trestles, which were located on numerous bluffs and creeks, allowed
the passengers to clock the miles as they traveled along one of the most scenic routes in
Southern Illinois. Although the railroad is no longer here, the route known as
Tunnel Hill State Trail, remains. |
