Students will be amazed at the dark mysterious life and writings of Edgar Allen Poe and equally inspire by poems from Edna St. Vincent Millay and Robert Frost.

The course is divided into six major units of study, beginning with a study of short stories and literary terms followed by a book report. Poetry then takes center stage and is quickly followed by the classic Shakespearean play of "Julius Caesar". Students are then ask to explore their future plans by researching and writing a career paper. Reading and analyzing the "Pearl" a novel by John Steinbeck completes the course of study. Throughout the course students will be asked to express themselves through writing and oral presentation.
