On December 1, VHS crowned Sarah File and Robby
Trigg as the Homecoming Queen and King of 2006.
Homecoming week was November 27th through
December 1st. Many students participated in a variety of activities
and showed their school spirit in many ways.
Monday was Pajama Day, and Tuesday was Decades
Day, with volleyball as the noon activity. Wednesday was Crazy Day,
with scooter racing at lunchtime. Thursday was Twin Day, with a
basketball relay for the noon time activity. Friday was Orange and
Blue Day, and everyone’s favorite noon activity, Tug of War, in
which the Sophomores pulled their way to victory. The Freshman took
second place in Tug of War, followed by the Juniors and then
Seniors.
The Homecoming skits and speeches were followed
by the Lip Sync’s, which were the highlight of the day. With the
help of their class sponsors, Mr. Palmer and Ms. Cochran, the
Sophomores were able to win the lip sync, blowing away the
competition. The Juniors came in second, Seniors third and Freshman
came in last. The teachers secretly put together a lip sync of their
own this year, which turned out to be a show stopper!
The totals for the week were Freshman with 17
points, Sophomores had 22, Juniors finished with 30 and the Seniors
came out on top this year with 31 points.
Student Council coordinates all of the Homecoming
activities, from the dress-up days to coronation. Mrs. Reichert, one
of the Student Council sponsors said, "I have been here for 20 years
and this has been the best Homecoming yet. The cooperation of the
students and faculty made everything easy and fun!"
The Eagles kept the spirit of the night going by leading their
team to a 54 point victory over the Shawnee Redskins.
