Bylaws of the

Vienna High School Chapter of the

National Senior Beta Club

  1. This chapter of the Beta Club will meet on a regular basis throughout the school year.
  2. The classes from which members may be drawn will be grades 9-12.
  3. Freshman will be eligible to join at the conclusion of the first semester (December).
  4. The scholastic requirements for membership will be a cumulative grade point average of 4.50.
  5. Members must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 4.50.  If a Beta member falls below the required 4.50 required cumulative grade point average, that Beta member will be placed on academic probation at which time he/she has one semester to either raise his/her cumulative grade point average or lose membership.
  6. If a Beta loses membership, he/she will have to pay $15 to be reinstated as a member with the National Beta Club and pay the $5 local dues.
  7. Members who are on academic probation are not eligible to attend Beta Club State or National Convention.
  8. The officers to be elected for this club include President, Vice-president, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, and Chaplain.
  9. Officers will be elected from the senior class.
  10. To be eligible to be an officer, a Beta must have attending State and National Convention his junior year if the club attended.  (This rule will be effective with the 2010 school year.)
  11. A member must perform 20 hours of volunteer work to be eligible to attend Beta Club State or National Convention.  Only 10 hours may be earned thru non-VHS Beta Club sponsored activities.
  12. Members must attend State Convention to be eligible to attend National Convention.
  13. Local dues are $5 a year.  Failure to pay the dues will result in the loss of membership.
  14. Juniors who are interested in running for state office must have attended State and National Convention their sophomore year if the club attended.  (This rules will be effective with the 2010 school year.)
  15. Members who have excessive discipline referrals, as determined by the Beta Club sponsor, will be placed on leadership probation.  Students who are on leadership probation are not allowed to attend Beta Club State Convention.  Leadership probation will last for one semester, at which time the Beta Club sponsor will determine if the member is to be removed from probation.
  16. Members must not have any outstanding balance owed to the club in order to maintain membership from year to year.
